Reman Sandhu

Reman works as a Legal Researcher and Content Manager for providing simple and actionable legal information to the citizens of India through Nyaaya. She is responsible for content creation, dissemination, and content collaborations. Reman has completed the Young Indian Fellowship from the Ashoka University in 2021 and holds a degree in Law and Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Public Administration from the Panjab University. Prior to joining Nyaaya, she was working in education curriculum and youth development in partnership with various governments during her engagement with the NGO coalition ComMutiny- The Youth Collective. She has previously worked at the Punjab and Haryana High Court from the chambers of Senior Advocate Puneet Jindal. She has published op-eds in The Hindu, The Quint, and LiveWire. She is passionate about the spoken word and writes poetry in Hindustani and Punjabi.

Kanav Narayan Sahgal

Kanav is responsible for managing the Samvidhaan Fellowship and assisting Nyaaya with its communications strategy, especially outreach for Nyaaya Hindi (न्याय हिंदी ). Kanav has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a Master’s degree in Development. Prior to joining Nyaaya, he worked in both the private and the non-profit sectors in a range of roles that included human resource management, internal and external communications, and information management. Kanav is passionate about LGBTQ+ advocacy and frequently writes for national and international publications about local and global queer political affairs. He enjoys reading books on social theory and lifting weights at the gym in equal measure. The bookstore and the gym are among his two favorite places in the world (apart from his home, of course)

Amrita Jacob

Amrita is the Legal Research and Content Manager at Nyaaya. She is responsible for content creation, editing, dissemination and content collaboration work. Amrita did her graduation in law from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi. While at NUALS, she has worked as the student associate of the Centre for Women and Family Studies. After graduation, she has been involved with IndicLaw, a Kochi based online legal education start-up. Her favourite recreational activities include exploring different DIY art and craft, reading and watching movies.

Kanika Arora

Kanika is the Content Manager at Nyaaya. She is responsible for content creation, dissemination and content collaborations. She also manages the Ask Nyaaya Helpline. Kanika holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi. She worked as a consultant with KATHA, a non-governmental organisation established in the field of community development and child welfare. Kanika is the founder of a social initiative called PAAVI, that works on creating classrooms of equality by spreading awareness about child sexual abuse. She holds a diploma in Kathak and is a trained salsa dancer. She doesn’t shy away from mixing the two and making people uncomfortable.

Ankitha Rao

Ankitha is Nyaaya’s graphic designer. She takes care of all things design at Nyaaya. She holds a Bachelor’s in Animation from Jain University. Prior to joining Nyaaya, Ankitha worked as an intern at a startup company called The Better co., she has also worked as a graphic designer at Licious Designs and as an digital media intern at the  MP Office of Tejaswi Surya – Bangalore south. When not designing for Nyaaya, she enjoys traveling, sketching,  badminton, tennis and also learning new languages.

Yashaswini Basu

Yashaswini works as Nyaaya’s Outreach Lead. Her primary responsibilities revolve around managing Nyaaya’s external communications and outreach campaigns including community engagements and developing strategic partnerships. She works closely with Nyaaya’s content team to ideate on new content based collaborations and on expanding Nyaaya’s volunteer networks. She graduated in English Literature from Lady Shri Ram College For Women in 2014 and holds a masters in International and Comparative Law from SOAS, University of London. Prior to joining Nyaaya, Yashaswini worked at centres of human rights advocacy like Internet Freedom Foundation and iProbono. She had also briefly worked as an associate fellow at Vidhi’s Delhi office in 2017. She enjoys dancing and is trained in Kathak. Reading has become a long lost love for her and she is taking baby steps to rekindle that affair!

Anisha Gopi

Anisha focuses on implementing Nyaaya’s strategic direction and ensuring that our content is disseminated effectively. She holds a BA-LLB (Hons) from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore and an LLM in International Law and Human Rights from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. She has spent the past decade working with various civil society organisations in the areas of gender-based violence and access to justice. Some of her previous roles have been at the Office of the Secretary General at Amnesty International in London, the Harvard Law School Gender Violence Programme and the Harvard South Asia Institute, in Cambridge Massachusetts and The Majlis Legal Centre and Amarchand Mangaldas in Mumbai. She loves dancing, wishes she could sing and enjoys exploring new places.

Ashwini Obulesh

Ashwini is an advocate practising before the High Court of Karnataka. She is currently associated with Nyaaya as the Programme Coordinator for all Kannada projects.

Ashwini has a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree and an LL.M. degree from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She previously worked with corporate law firm Samvad Partners in the areas of banking and finance, general corporate advisory, and private equity. She has been associated with several women and child rights based organisations over the past decade. She has, over the years, been working towards creating quality legal content in Kannada, so as to expand the reach of the Law to all persons. Ashwini has recently started Dhwani Legal Trust, an organisation that aspires to provide legal aid, especially to persons from poor and marginalized communities, thereby empowering them to establish their rights. She has been incriminated to be an unashamed aesthete, impulsively enthusiastic and hopelessly idealistic.

Deeksha Singh

Deeksha is the Content Lead at Nyaaya. She is responsible for all content-related planning for the website and social media. It is her mandate to ensure that the content continues to fulfil the mandate of being relevant, accessible and easy to understand. Deeksha holds a BA. LL.B degree from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She has previously worked as a banking and finance lawyer, faculty at the online legal learning site, myLaw.net and product manager at LexStart, a tech-legal company supporting the startup ecosystem. When not working for Nyaaya, you can find her voraciously consuming science fiction and fantasy novels and working on her speedcubing skills.
